Bethanie Danko
In her role as University Relations Associate, Bethanie Danko provides leadership and support to a range of University initiatives. She serves as an executive sponsor for Butler Sustainability on behalf of the President’s Office, partnering with internal and external leaders to help advance the University’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.
Bethanie actively supports the efforts of Advancement, Student Life, and many other Butler divisions. She and Jim frequently host events for Butler students, families, alumni, and friends at their home and represent the University at community functions. Bethanie has hosted a Book Club for Butler friends, with discussions facilitated by Butler faculty members, for the past 10 years.
Having grown up in rural New England, Bethanie is an avid nature enthusiast and hiker and is committed to conservation. She grows flowers and vegetables in the President’s Residence yard, which she has converted into a certified wildlife habitat.
Bethanie is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Indianapolis Zoo and serves on the Board’s Conservation Committee. She has served as a member of the Nominating Committee for the Indianapolis Prize and as the chair of the Nominating Committee for the Saving Species Challenge.
She earned a BA in Sociology from Keene State College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University.
Bethanie and Jim enjoy spending free time with their family; attending Butler student games, events, and performances; and vacationing on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
